Get administrator access to a Windows PC in less than 2 minutes!

Note: Use this for good, not bad. (for example - you’ve forgotten a password or something)

So, you’re sick of being restricted at school or work or something - they won’t let you install things, access the hard drive, and numerous other things. You’ve just had enough, and would very much like to break free.

Or, you’ve forgotten your password, and can’t get log in!
So, what do you do?

Fancy winning $1000?

Not from me, that is!
Just been looking through my old hotmail account, and the Powerhouse Museum together with Windows Live Hotmail have come up with ‘Email Australia’, where they plan to create a huge email archive for future generations to see what Australian culture and such was like back now. (Yeah, I know, that probably doesn’t make much sense).

It sounds pretty cool to be honest, though you’re probably not going to find anything from me in there.
Now, about that one thousand dollar prize - if you enter emails from a hotmail address, you’ll go into the draw to win the money. How sweet is that? :-)
They’re also accepting mail from any other domain too, but you won’t enter the $1000 prize draw.

Interested? Head over to the Email Australia NineMSN page, where they’ve got more info. :-)

Oh yeah, Aussies only. :P

[blog] Radelaide!

It’s almost been 2 weeks since my last post, which was only about the iPod Touch v2 beta. Here’s an actual blog that’s about me :P

Well we (that’s South Australia I’m talking here) have been on school holidays for the last 2 weeks or so - not long enough I say. I love lounging around, doing a whole lot of nothing :-)

I spent the weekend in Adelaide also, which was pretty cool. Got to catch up with some family that I hadnt seen for ages! We also went to an AFL match on Saturday - Adelaide Crows vs. Fremantle. Was barracking for Crows of course - they ended up winning in the end! :-)
Oh, one last thing that I also got while we were over there was a new mobile phone - the Nokia 6120 classic. Will do a futher review later on, but from the few days that I’ve had it - all is well. :-)

I’ve been accepted into two new Microsoft Betas - Live Mesh, and another that I can’t tell a soul about, so we’ll just leave that here ;)

Unfortunately I am without my MacBook for at least another few days. For the last few weeks, when it was under load, there was an audible ‘ticking’ sound (think lawnmower, but quieter) coming from the fan. Not only was it annoying, but I was worried that if the fan failed altogether, the CPU would cook. The other problem with my MacBook is a crack in the case - right hand side towards the front, where the lid & base came together. Luckily it hadnt chipped, as was the case with my friends MacBook. So, both the fan and the case are being replaced, and should be ready about Monday - Can’t wait.

I’ve also thought of a proper name for this blog - “Beau Giles” sounded kinda bland and boring, so introducing the new name….

Good News for People That Love Bad News

Cool hey? :-)

And yes, I promise that I’ll write more iPod / iPhone related posts as soon as I get my MacBook back!

Cheers,
Beau

P.S: Internet Explorer 6 is actually kinda nice. Fast even. :-)

[iPod Touch] 1.2.0 Beta

After itching to try out the iPod Touch 1.2 beta (build 5A225c), I finally got a copy of the firmware off BitTorrent (link down further), and well, you’re not really missing out on much if you’re still using v1.1.4. I actually downgraded again today.

The only thing that’s worth upgrading for is the new Calculator - gone are the funny looking circle buttions, in favour of the cool new rectangle look. Even cooler is the fact that if you turn your iPod Touch on the side, it goes all scientific on you, with way more functions and such. Cool!

The other change that I could see is a new layout for the settings menu, with ‘Mail, Calendar & Contacts’ menu now meshed together.

Also - it’s missing the new App Store, alongside the old iTunes Music store.

So, as it goes, you really arent missing out on much !
Another reason for staying on 1.1.4 is the lack of apps - 1.2 changed most (if not all) of it’s frameworks, so current apps won’t work, including Installer.

If you’re really dying to be infront of everyone - make sure that you’ve already got Pwnage, and then you can find the iPhone & iPod Touch 1.2.0 IPSW file here

[Pwnage] Custom Applications: Take 2

More information on Adding Custom Applications to your own IPSW files for use with Pwnage / iTunes.

  • Applications not running? Try using SFTP to change the permissions to 755 or higher. As of this moment I am unsure if it’s possible to do this before restoring the firmware to your iPod
  • Another way to create your dream firmware has surfaced over on the hackint0sh forums - you can also edit the files at the mounted disk stage - only problem is that if you were to add more applications / modify your ‘dream’ firmware, you’d have to do this every time, unlike my method where it’ll stay there, at least until you update PwnageTool.
  • And if you’re not prepared to get ‘down & dirty’ with my method - look what’s coming. I found this over on The iPhone Project. Looks very promising, although I hope we’re not just limited to payloads, as opposed to just adding the application files.
  • As always - leave any comments or questions. They mean alot, and yes they do get read! :-)

    Cheers,
    Beau
